can we use the meat of aqiqah in the waleema feast of child's uncle( chacha)?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
The jurists differed in opinion with regard to combining the ‘Aqeeqah with the Waleemah (marriage banquet), meaning slaughtering an animal with the intention of ‘Aqeeqah then using its meat for one’s Waleemah or for someone else’s Waleemah. The view we adopt here in Islamweb is that this is permissible. Based on this, it is permissible to slaughter the ‘Aqeeqah and give its meat to a cousin for his Waleemah.
From another perspective, the jurists stated that what is permissible in the Udh-hiyah (sacrificial animal), is permissible in the ‘Aqeeqah as well, so it should be given to those who are entitled to it. The book Kashshaaf Al-Qinaa’ reads: “Most of the rulings of the ‘Aqeeqah are the same as the rulings of the Udh-hiyah, such as eating, gifting, and (giving in) charity.”
Therefore, the owner of the ‘Aqeeqah may donate some of its meat in charity to the poor and give some of it to his cousin on the occasion of his Waleemah. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 92079.
