She has whispers about the purity of a pair of shoes

Question

asslam u alikum i wore my husband shoes a long time ago and i think my feet were not pure at that time.after that i put those shoes out inthe rain to get washed and put them back.i thought to myself that i would wash them later.yesterday i saw my husband wearing those shoes out in the rain.the problem is i dont remeber if those shoes were really dirty from the start when i wore them because it was along time ago.i cant tell my husband because he knows i am suffering from waswasa.what should i do.am i supposed to wash where he walked on the carpet.i do not even know if his feet got dirty by wearing shoes as i cant ask him because he will be mad because of my waswasa.i dont remeber if rain was good enough to wash shoes.plz advice

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

What you should do is to stop such Waswasah (insinuating whispers) and do not let it have any control over you. You should know that all things are pure in principle, not impure. Thus, if you doubt that something has become impure and you are not certain, then it is pure, not impure.

In brief, you are not obliged to do anything; neither wash the shoes nor tell your husband. For more benefit, kindly refer to Fatwa 87127.
