Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and messenger.

It was authentically reported that Anas ibn Maalik may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that when the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) came to Al-Madeenah, the people had two days on which they engaged in amusement. He asked: “What are these two days (what is their significance)?” They said: “We celebrated them in the pre-Islamic era.” The Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Verily, Allaah has given you something better in place of them: the Day of Al-Adh-ha and the Day of Al-Fitr.” [Ahmad]

We have highlighted in Fatwa 90304 that there is no authentic Hadeeth stating that those two feasts were the Day of Nayrooz and the day of Mihrajaan.

Allaah Knows best.
