Question
Is it correct that the major signs of the Hour are about to occur?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
It should be noted that the major signs of the Hour are coming, but not at a specified time. According to Quranic verses and many Prophetic Hadeeths, (narrations) the Hour is impending but no one knows when. Allaah the Almighty Says (what means):
· {The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].} [Quran 54:1]
· {[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.} [Quran 21:1]
· {The Approaching Day has approached. Of it, [from those] besides Allaah, there is no remover.} [Quran 53:57-58]
Commenting on this verse, At-Tabaraani
said that the Day of Resurrection is imminent. No one will recognize it except when Allaah The Almighty brings about its advent at its specified time. Allaah The Almighty has not revealed its time, not even to a favored angel or a Prophet that he sent with a message.
In addition, Allaah the Almighty Says (what means): {They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival? Say, "Its knowledge is only with my Lord. None will reveal its time except Him. It lays heavily upon the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except unexpectedly."} [Quran 7:187]
