Assalaamu alaykum. I had intercourse with my husband and then experienced bleeding for two hours. What is this bleeding called in Islam. If I get pregnant because of that intercourse, could that bleeding harm the expected baby?

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

This bleeding is considered Istihaadhah (vaginal bleeding outside the menstrual period). It is not considered menstrual bleeding because the shortest length of the menstrual bleeding is a day and a night according to the majority of scholars. Hopefully, your baby will not be harmed if you got pregnant; you should consult with specialized doctors in this regard.
