Burying a magic spell when finding it

Question

I found a magic spell that someone had made for me (i.e., to afflict me). My son took it and I do not know where he threw it. What should I do in order to fortify myself? I do not know the person who did it or where my son threw it.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

To fortify yourself against magic, you have to fear Allaah The Almighty. This is because misdeeds cause man's destruction and the enemies' dominance over him, and no calamity befalls man except because of a sin that he committed. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.} [Quran 42:30]

Also, the Muslim should keep on saying the Athkaar (mentionings and remembrances of Allaah) of the morning and the evening, and earnestly supplicate to Allaah The Almighty as much as possible.

If you find the object that you think is a magic spell, bury it as the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, instructed the Muslims when he found the magic spell that a Jew placed on him. ‘Aa’ishah may Allaah be pleased with her said,

Magic was worked on the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, so that he began to imagine that he had done something although he had not. One day, while he was with me, he invoked Allaah and invoked for a long period and then said: "O ‘Aa’ishah, do you know that Allaah has instructed me regarding the matter I asked Him about?" I asked, "What is that, O Messenger of Allaah?" He said: "Two men came to me; one of them sat near my head and the other sat near my feet. One of them asked his companion, 'What is the disease of this man?' The other replied, 'He is under the effect of magic.' The first one asked, 'Who worked magic on him?' The other replied, 'Labeed ibn Al-A‘sam, a Jew from the tribe of the Banu Zurayq.' The first one asked, 'With what was it done?' The other replied, 'With a comb and the hair stuck to it and a skin of the pollen of a male date palm tree.' The first one asked, 'Where is it?' The other replied, 'In the well of Thu Arwaan.'" Then the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, went along with some of his Companions to that well and looked at that and there were indeed date palms near it. Then he returned to me and said: "By Allaah, the water of that well was (red) like the infusion of Henna leaves and its date palms were like the heads of devils" I said, "O Messenger of Allaah, did you take those materials out of the pollen skin?" He said: "No, as for me Allaah has healed me and cured me and I was afraid that (by showing that to the people) I would spread evil among them." Then he ordered that the well be filled up with earth, and it was filled up with earth. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

You should not surrender to illusions and imaginations but instead rely upon Allaah The Almighty, firmly believing that what you miss was never going befall you, and what befalls you was never going to miss you.

Allaah Knows best.
