Sometimes, while reciting Quran, I come across a verse that implies a prostration but it is not easy for me to prostrate (at that particular time). Thus, is there any Du‘aa’ that I may say when I experience the same situation again?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
There is no Du‘aa’ nor Thikr that can take the place of the prostration of recitation. Also, we should know that the prostration of recitation is not obligatory. This can be proven by what is reported by ‘Umar who recited Soorat An-Nahl on a Friday on the pulpit and, when he reached the verse of prostration, he got down from the pulpit and prostrated and the people also prostrated. The next Friday he recited the same Soorah and, when he reached the verse of the prostration, he said, “O people! When we recite the verses of prostration (during the sermon), whoever prostrates does the right thing yet there is no sin for the one who does not prostrate.” And ‘Umar did not prostrate (that day).
