Seeing Non-Muslims Doing Acts of Worship on TV

Question

If on the news, non-muslims doing acts of worship is shown and we see it what should we do? Should we turn off the TV? Should we complain about what is shown to the channel?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

A fast glance of images of people worshiping according to their false religion is not forbidden. However, if a Muslim sees this accidentally, he should detest it in his heart, and should remember the blessing of Islam that Allah has blessed him with, and that he is not like those disbelievers.

If he fears that these images may influence him, then he should not look at them, and turn off the television until the scene ends.

One should not watch these shows except for the purpose of warning against their evil, and clarifying that those people do not have sound minds. Otherwise, it is feared that watching such scenes by people with weak faith and mind will make them accustomed to them, and therefore, become indifferent about them and not condemn such false rituals.

Allah knows best.
