Question
How authentic is the narration in which the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that if a person commits a sin then realizes that he has a Lord Who forgives sins if He wills and punishes if He wills, then Allaah will forgive him?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
This is an authentic narration that was narrated by Al-Haakim and Abu Na‘eem on the authority of Anas 
.
In this narration the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, stated that if a slave committed a sin then repented to Allaah and realized that his Lord forgives the sins if He wills or punishes for them if He wills, then Allaah will forgive him.
