Liars to be rebuked and advised

Question

I know someone who lies a lot. Should I rebuke him or keep silent?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

Lying is prohibited. Therefore, if one knows that someone is lying, he must advise him to stop and remind him of the Punishment and Torment of Allaah The Almighty. This should be done unless it will lead to worse consequences. If one cannot do this directly, he may resort to giving that person a booklet or a tape or anything of the sort that Addresses this subject.

Allaah Knows best.
