No Specific Supplication to Be Recited on Friday Save Exalting the Mention of Prophet

Question

Assalamu alaikum
Is there any supplications that is recited only on Friday?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We do not know of any particular supplication that should be recited on Friday only, but it was authentically reported that a Muslim is encouraged to invoke peace and blessings on the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, abundantly on Fridays. He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “Among the most excellent of your days is Friday, so invoke many blessings on me on that day, for your blessings will be presented to me. They (the Companions) asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, how can our blessings be presented to you when your body has decayed?' He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: 'Allah has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of Prophets.'” [Abu Daawood and others, Al-Albaani: authentic]

It was also authentically reported that a Muslim is encouraged to recite Soorat Al-Kahf [Quran 18] on Friday because he, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “Whoever recites Soorat Al-Kahf on Friday will have a light that will shine for him in the interval between that Friday and the next.

Another version of the Hadeeth reads: “Whoever recites Soorat Al-Kahf on Friday will have a light that will shine for him between him and the Ancient House (i.e. the Ka‘bah).

These two Ahadeeth were classified as authentic by Shaykh Al-Albaani may Allaah have mercy upon him in Saheeh Al-Jaami‘.

A Muslim should keenly devote himself, on this day and others, to performing whatever acts of obedience he can, such as reciting Thikr, performing voluntary prayers, and spending in charity if he can afford it.

Allah Knows best.
