I've really been trying to become a better Muslim by I keep messing up. am I a kaffir now? I am feeling really helpless, I've repented and retook my shahada just in case but I need to know if all my good deeds are gone and all the duaa I make will Allah reject it now? Please answer, I am really really worried.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

You should avoid and repel these whispers and not pay any attention to them.

There is no sin at all in the statement that you uttered, Allah willing.

That is because you said it as a matter of disapproval and to clarify that no one can ward off death when it comes.

Therefore, praise be to Allah, you are a Muslim, and you did not go out of the fold of Islam because of what you mentioned.

Your supplication as well as all your other acts of worship are acceptable and you will be rewarded for them all, Allah willing.

Allah knows best.
