Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Dear Sister, you should know that the basic principle in the matter of naming (children) is permissibility, not prohibition, and it is not forbidden to be given a specific name unless there is a legitimate reason for the prohibition.

For instance, if the name is specific to the non-Muslims, or the dissolute people, it is forbidden for the reason of imitation. Or that the name includes a forbidden meaning, such as being the name of a god for the polytheists, then it is forbidden because of the forbidden meaning it contains.

Or that the name contains an Islamically reprehensible meaning, such as Harb (the war), Murrah (the bitter), and any name that indicates praising the person.”; as the Sharia stipulated that it is disliked being named by them. If the name is devoid of these reasons, then there is nothing wrong with giving it a name.

Based on this, if the name “Zimal” does not include any of the reasons for prohibition we have mentioned, then there is nothing wrong with you naming your daughter that name.

Allah knows best.
