Marrying a woman who does not have a Muslim guardian

Question

السلام عليكم I live in Europe and I made intention to marry a girl but she just recently converted to Islam and she does not have wali because all her family is still non-muslim from both maternal and paternal side. She is committed to religion and of good character as per my friends mother, who told me about her when I asked to find girl for marriage. Should I leave her as she does not have wali or Is there a way who can act as her wali. Please clarify the matter.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

May Allah reward you for your eagerness to get married, and we ask Allah the Almighty to facilitate it for you.

There is no problem in the fact that this woman does not have a Muslim guardian, as the one who takes charge of her marriage in this case is the Muslim judge, or whoever represents him, such as those in charge of Islamic centers in those countries. If it is not possible to have a Muslim judge or someone who represents him, then she may authorize a just man from among the Muslims to take charge of her marriage, as stated by the scholars.

If Allah has decreed that you should get married, then we advise you to treat her kindly, to teach her about her religion, and to help her to stand firm on the truth. It is proven in the Two Saheehs that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Treat women kindly.

Allah knows best.
