Breaking during the Friday Khutbah

Question

Assalamu alaikum .if u lose wudu when listening during the jummuah khutbah, when should u go and redo it?during khutbah or as soon as khutbah finishes?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Purification from minor impurity is not a condition for listening to the Friday Khutbah (sermon); rather, it is a condition for the prayer itself. Therefore, if a person’s Wudu (ablution) becomes invalid during the Friday Khutbah, it is not obligatory for him to immediately perform Wudu. He may rather delay it until just before the prayer.

It is mentioned the Hanafi book of jurisprudence 'Al-Bahr Al-Ra'iq Sharh Kanz Ad-Daqa'iq’ by Ibn Nujaym: “If someone’s Wudu becomes invalid during the Friday Khutbah; if he is able to leave, he should leave and perform Wudu. But if he is unable to exit, he should remain seated and not step over people’s necks (in the mosque).” [End quote]

Allah knows best.
