Direct contact with women for Da‘wah

Question

I am a religious young man, thanks to Allaah The Almighty, and I have concerns about a young woman who lives nearby. She does not adhere to Islamic teachings and mixes with young men without dressing decently. I personally have never found her tempting, and I thank Allaah for that. Would it be permissible for me to invite her to adhere to Islamic teachings, since I am absolutely sure she finds anything I say convincing? May Allaah reward you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

There is no doubt that women represent the most serious trial to men, as asserted by the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, in a Hadeeth narrated on the authority of 'Usaamah Ibn Zayd may Allaah be pleased with him. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, also commanded men to beware of the temptations caused by women, and informed us that the fall of Children of Israel started with the temptation of women. [Muslim]

No one should feel secure against this temptation. Even a pious worshipper could be seduced with a single look. This is why Allaah The Almighty Ordered all Muslims, without exception, to lower their gaze. This was first addressed to the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them who were undoubtedly the strongest and most steadfast of believers.

Therefore, we advise you to stay away from this girl and find a righteous woman, such as your wife or the wife of a friend, to take on the task of inviting her to the path of Allaah The Almighty. This is safer for both of you and will keep you away from suspicious situations, especially that she is obviously shameless with young men. Be very careful, for safety from sin and Fitnah is more important than anything else.

Allaah Knows best.
