Question
Why did Allaah The Almighty Make the weather hot and not generally mild although He Is able to Do that?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
You have to know that Allaah The Almighty Is All-Wise. He never Does anything in vain or without a purpose. In fact, He Does no action except according to His perfect Wisdom. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And Allaah Has Revealed to you the Book and wisdom}[Quran 4:113]
Additionally, you have to know that Allaah The Almighty Cannot Be Questioned as to what He Does. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {He Is not Questioned about what He Does, but they will be questioned.}[Quran 21:23]
If Allaah The Almighty Had Made this weather mild all the year, you would not have appreciated it. Actually, no one can know the blessings of the mild weather unless he experiences the hot and cold weather. Consequently, the alternation of weather is made according to the perfect Wisdom of Allaah The Almighty by creating these contradictory weathers. Also, among the wisdoms of these conflicting weathers is to make us remember the torment of the Hereafter and seek refuge with Allaah The Almighty from it.
It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah, May Allaah Be Pleased with him, that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “If the weather is very hot, delay the Zuhr Prayer till it becomes (a bit) cooler because the severity of heat is from the raging of Hell. Hell complained to its Lord saying, ‘O Lord! My parts are eating (burning) one another.’ So Allaah Allowed it to take two breaths, one in the winter and the other in the summer. The breath in the summer is at the time when you feel the severest heat and the breath in the winter is at the time when you feel the severest cold.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
