Using mediators for supplication to Allah

Question

Is it possible to submit our supplication through any Sheiks or Agent?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Allah, the Great and Almighty, says in the Holy Qur'an : (When My servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I respond to the prayer of every supplicant when he calls on Me). [2:186].
It is, in fact, a form of Allah's Mercy and Favor since He has liberated worship - and Du'a is the essence of worship - from the bondage of intermediaries. He has made His Door Open to all worshippers. The function of sheikhs is merely to guide people in the right direction.
Thus, it is not allowed to seek Allah's Mercy and forgiveness through anybody, nor to say: 'O Allah! I ask you to grant me such and such by honor of so-and-so'.

But you are to implore Allah with His Good Names and His Great Attributes as well as your righteous deeds.
It is also permitted to pray to Allah for others as well as to ask others to pray for you. This will be beneficial to both sides.

Imam Muslim related that Ummu al-Dardaa asked Safwan Ibn 'Abdullah: "Do you intend to perform Hajj this year? He said. 'Yes' She said: 'Do supplicate Allah for us, verily the Prophet Muhammad (Blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to say: "A Muslim's prayer for his absent brother is accepted, when he makes a supplication for blessings for his brother, the commissioned angel says: 'Ameen' May it be for you too'."
And Allah knows best.
