Giving reward for Qur'anic recitation to deceased relatives
Fatwa No: 84090

1. Is it permissible to present the reward of recitation of Qur'an to dead relatives?2. Is it correct to present the reward for more than one person?

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Offering the reward of recitation of Qur'an to more than one dead person is permissible, yet it is permissible to offer the reward to all dead Muslims. Imam Ibn Taymiyah issued a Fatwa similar to what is mentioned here, but at the same time he informed that doing what is agreed upon is better than what is disputable. According to him, giving charity on behalf of a dead person, making Du'a for him are preferable and perfect according to the practice of the good ancestors.
Allah knows best.
