Visiting a Family Whose Father 'Removes' Jinn from People

Question

Can I visit a family whose the father works in Saudi Arabia and some people think that his money is `Haram`, because he works as a person who gets ghosts and Jinn to leave a human body? I like the family. Can I visit them and eat their food? I'm not sure of his history. Please help me soon.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If the head of the family, mentioned in your question, recites only the Quran and what is proved in the Hadeeth, then it would be considered as lawful Ruqyah. So, we should not confuse that with what is practiced by magicians and jugglers. Many scholars have declared that receiving wages for such Ruqyah is permissible. They deduced this permissibility from the Hadeeth of Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri may Allaah be pleased with him that a person recited Surah al-Faatihah over a person who was bitten by a snake. As a result of that, he received thirty sheep and they also gave him and his companions milk to drink. When the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was informed about it, he approved it.

Therefore, there is no harm in visiting this family or eating from their food if the father abides by the limits of the Sharee'ah in his Ruqyah. However, if he practices magic or jugglery, then you should avoid eating the food purchased with that money.

Allah knows best.
