Question

I have two questions: Is there any mention in the Holy Qur'an that women can remain pregnant up to 18 months?

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

There is no mention in the Quran that the period of pregnancy might reach eighteen months. However, there are three conditions of pregnancy:

(A) The normal and general condition of a pregnancy lasts for nine months.

(B) The minimum period of a pregnancy is six months.

(C) There is no limit for maximum period of pregnancy. It is said by some women that they were pregnant for four years.
