Question

I would like to know the names of the children of Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Did Khadeejah, may Allaah be pleased with her, have any children when she married the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Scholars mention that Khadeejah may Allaah be pleased with her married three men before the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. The first was Abu Haalah ibn Zuraarah and they had a daughter named Hind bint Abi Haalah and a son named Haalah ibn Abi Haalah. The second was ‘Ateeq ibn ‘Aabid and they had a daughter called Hind bint ‘Ateeq. The third was a man from Bani Usaid.

Then she married Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and they had six children. The first was Al-Qaasim, the Prophet's, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, eldest son and the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was nicknamed Abul-Qaasim. The second was ‘Abdullaah, and he was nicknamed At-Tayyib and At-Taahir. Al-Qaasim and ‘Abdullaah died when they were children.

The third was a daughter, named Zaynab. The fourth was Ruqayyah, also a daughter; the fifth was Umm Kulthoom, and the sixth Faatimah, all daughters may Allaah be pleased with them all. As for the Prophet's, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, son Ibraaheem, his mother was Maariyah Al-Qibtiyyah, and he also died while very young. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is not the father of any man among you…}[Quran, 33: 40]

Allaah Knows best.
