Question
I am a new Muslim. How should I dress and act? What should I learn first? Is there an Islamic web site that helps with the pronunciation of Islamic words and terminology?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Congratulations for your adherence to Islam. In fact, this is the greatest benefit that Allah has bestowed on a person. It is narrated in a sound Hadith that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "No soul will enter Paradise unless it is a Muslim's! Anyone who joins Islam should first utter the Shahada and it is recommendable for him to take a shower" . Please read Fatwa: 82245. He should learn as soon as possible the Tahara (how to purify oneself and remove impurities). For details about prayer, please read Fatwa: 85270.
Then the Muslim should adhere to the Islamic rules relative to prayers, fasting, Zakah, Hajj and all other duties.
To know some sites that give information for new Muslims, please read Fatwa: 81289. If you are married to a non-Muslim, you should separate from him immediately if he does not become a Muslim. Allah will undoubtedly compensate you with a better husband.
