Daughter ate from cat's bowl and became ill

Question

My 11-year-old daughter ate from my cat's bowl and we had to take her to the hospital. She is extremely ill. The bowl was clean and we served her meal in it because she wanted to be like the Prophet's (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) wife Ayisha (Radiya Allahu Anhu) who ate from the same bowl as a cat. Your prayers and other brothers and sisters prayers are much needed.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. May Allah grant your daughter good health and cure. It is a duty on the Muslim to protect himself from any matter that could cause him any harm such as drinking from the utensils peculiar to cats, etc. Though the leftover of a cat is pure but it might carry with some impurities that could be harmful. Islamic Shariah urges Muslims to take all precautions that protect them from diseases such as washing hands and rinsing mouth before and after taking food, breathing in the drinking utensil and drinking from the broken part of a glass since it is hard to clean and thus bacteria may exist and grow there. We mentioned the above rulings based on the Ahadith and traditions. Allah knows best.
