Fatwa CenterWorking and Staying Away from Family for 5 Days: How to Pray
Question
I am living in Attock and working in Islamabad which is 90 km away from Attock. I am working for 5 days in continuous and go back to Attock (my home city) for two days. How I can perform Salat if I am working in Islamabad for following two cases:
1) If I have got a house on rent and live 5 days in this house during my 5 day continuous work cycle. I live alone in this house with other work mates and my family is not living with me. How I will offer pray during 5 days stay in Islamabad.
2) My company has provided me a single room bachelor accommodation with all boarding and lodging facilities. I live alone in this room with other work mates and my family is not living with me. How I will offer pray during 5 days stay in Islamabad.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
You are allowed to use the legal concession of a traveler while you are on the way to Islamabad or when you are on the way back home. Whenever you reach your destination you are not allowed to take advantage of the concession as long as your stay in Islamabad is five days. As soon as you return to your home city you have to perform complete prayer because your family lives there. Finally, know that when you stay in Islamabad you have to perform complete prayers (i.e. not to shorten them), attend Jumu'ah, etc., just as a resident does, since you are staying there for five days.
