Question
I know the names of all the Prophets of Allah in Arabic and English but lately I read an English book that lists the names of the Prophets and I noticed I never heard one of the names. Please tell me who is John the Baptist. If he is a Prophet what is his Arabic name?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
John the Baptist is the name the Christians give to the Prophet Yahya Ibn Zakariyah 
and there is no doubt that he was a Prophet.
Allaah Says (what means): {“Indeed, Allaah gives you good tidings of John, confirming a word from Allaah and [who will be] honorable, abstaining [from women], and a prophet from among the righteous."} [Quran 3:39]
