How many Rak'ah should we pray for the Friday prayer according to Hanafis?

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. It seems that the questioner is asking about the Sunnah prayers on Friday. Ahnaf and al-Shafiyah are of the opinion that performing Sunnah prayers is desirable contrary to al-Malikiyah and al-Hanabilah . Ahnaf believe that four Rak'ah of Sunnah are performed before Friday prayer and four Rak'ah after it. The correct opinion in this matter is the opinion of al-Malikiyah and al-Hanabilah that there is no specific Sunnah prayer before Friday prayer. This was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and his companions. However, after performing the two Rak'ah of greeting the mosque one may perform supererogatory prayers if he wants. After Friday prayer four Rak'ah of Sunnah should be performed if one performs them in mosque or two Rak'ah if one performs them in his house. The evidence for this is the Hadith Imam Muslim narrated in his Saheeh that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: Whoever is to pray after the Jumu'a should pray four Rak'ah. There is a sound Hadith reported in Sunan Tirmizi from Ibn Umar that The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) used to pray two Rak'ah in his house on the day of Jumu'a. Allah knows best.
