Question
I am a Muslim and I want a girl from Germany who is also Muslim. We knew each other in Lebanon. Can she send me her photo? She is a daughter of my uncle.
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
It is permissible for a man to look at whatever is required of a woman for the purpose of getting engaged with her. If she sends her picture to you in order for you to look at whatever is necessary for you to propose to her for marriage, then there is no harm for you to look at the picture for that purpose of having knowledge about her. Then you decide whether you wish to get engaged with her or not, and do not look at the picture again, and you have to return it to her. Then you have either to approach her for marriage or refrain from further contact.
