Accepted Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Gaining knowledge (science) is one of the priorities of Islam. Indeed Islam urges to populate the earth.

The first verses that were revealed to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) were: "Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen. He has taught man that which he knew not. (Al-'Alaq 96:1-5)

There is no contradiction between Islam and legitimate scientific investigation. The beneficial discoveries made serve the purpose for which Allah has created mankind, which is to worship Him alone.

Therefore, there is no harm in Islam in using satellites for the benefits of mankind as long as this does not contradict the important principles of Islam or cause the deterioration of morals and good conduct. As regards going to and landing on the Moon or other planets, if this is confirmed in reality, then there is nothing in religion that prohibits it, if it leads to achieving benefits and does not cause considerable harm or neglect of what is more appropriate.
