Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

We have previously issued a Fatwa about the ruling regarding the use of gel and its effect on ablution. The Fatwa is: 88567, so please refer to it. As regards what beautifies the hair, if it is something specific to women then it is forbidden for a man to use it, as this is imitating women. The Prophet cursed men who imitate women, and women who imitate men. [Al-Bukhari] With regard to what is general, like hair cream and the like, then there is no harm for men or women to use it.
