Signs of Allaah to His good servant

Question

Does Allaah Says or show sign in the prayer time or in dreams to His good slave to do good thing in life or guide them through difficult time when we may have one. That is one of my mean questions I have for long time and reading your all Fatwa interesting me asking you this. Please advice me correctly with references.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Allaah bestows His honor on whomever He likes and whenever He wants in order to encourage them to be righteous or to warn them from sin or for other reasons.

Probably it is suitable to mention here the story of the great companion of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) 'Abdullaah Bin 'Umar may Allaah be pleased with him. He said: "I was young, unmarried, and used to sleep in the mosque during the lifetime of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). I dreamt that two angels took me and went away with me towards the (Hell) Fire which had the appearance of the structure of a well, and had two horns (like those of animals). There I saw some people in it whom I knew. I started saying, "I seek refuge with Allaah from the (Hell) Fire, I seek refuge with Allaah from the (Hell) Fire." Then another angel met the other two and said to me, "Do not be afraid." I narrated my dream to Hafsah who, in her turn, narrated it to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "What an excellent man 'Abdullaah is if he only observes the optional night prayer." [Al Bukhari and Muslim] In this dream Allaah guided 'Abdullaah Bin 'Umar to the way he can avoid the punishment of Hellfire.

Allaah Knows best.
