I wish to know whether ablution is necessary for "prostration of recitation" or not? Please do mention the standpoint of Hanafi Madhab on this matter.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The Muslim jurists differed in opinion regarding the prostration for the recitation of the Qur'an whether or not it requires the same conditions to perform the prayer, like purity, facing the Qiblah and so forth. Some jurists among whom is the Hanafi School, are of the view that the ruling on the prostration for the recitation of the Qur'an is similar to the ruling for performing prayer. So the conditions of the prostration for the recitation of the Qur'an are the same conditions that are required for the prayer, like purity, covering the 'Awrah (parts of the body that must be covered in Islam) and facing the Qiblah. However, some other jurists do not consider that the above conditions should be met in order to perform the prostration for the prayer. This view is reported to be of Ibn 'Umar and it is also chosen by Shaykh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. To conclude, the most preponderant opinion is that of the majority of scholars therefore whoever prostrates for the recitation of the Qur'an without being in a state of purity his prostration is not accepted.
