The ruling of a young woman if she did not perform Ghusl (ritual bath) after sexual intercourse

Question

A young woman is married and she was in sexual defilement for three or four days without performing Ghusl and did not pray. What is the ruling on this?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

If the woman you are asking about is young and did not yet reach the age of purity, then there is no harm on her, and all perfect praise be to Allaah. But if she is an adult woman, she committed one of the great major sins, which is that she neglected purifying herself and abandoned the prayer. We hope that Allaah will forgive her for her ignorance, but she should repent to Allaah and make up for the prayers she missed during these four days. If she was in doubt whether it was three days or four days, she should consider it four days. However, she should seek forgiveness for what she did, as it was really a great sin.

Allaah Knows best.
