The wisdom in preserving only the Quran

Question

Allaah Says (what means): {Indeed, it is We who sent down the message [i.e. the Quran] and indeed, We will guard it (from corruption).}[Quran 15:9]. Why is it that Allaah protected the Quran but did not protect other divine books from corruption and falsification, as the Christians and the Jews falsified their books?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Belief is based on submitting oneself to Allaah, being pleased with His Rulings, abiding by His legislation and believing that whatever Allaah has predestined and legislated is based on extreme wisdom. Allaah Says (what means): {He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.}[Quran 21:23]. A person might know the wisdom of some matters but might not know the wisdom of some other matters. It might be that among the wisdoms of preserving the Quran and not preserving other Books-despite the fact that they all originated from Allaah- is that since the Quran is the last Book and Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was the last Prophet, then it is evident to preserve this Book from any falsification or distortion as there will not be any other Prophet who would expose the distortions and clarify the truth. On the contrary, there were other Prophets, may Allaah exalt their mention, who came after the previous Books, and the last Prophet, was Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) who informed us that the previous Books were distorted, and he confirmed the truth which remained in them.

Allaah Knows best.
