Is it a condition when performing ablution for the water to reach the inside of the eyes?

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

It is not a condition when performing ablution for the water to reach the inside of the eyes, it is not even desirable. Ash-Shaafi’ee said: 'I do not know any scholar who is not of the view that what should be washed of the face when performing ablution is what appears [on the surface] and not what is hidden. A person is not obliged to wash his eyes or to splash water inside them.'
