Hadeeth about the stop of rain for people refraining from paying Zakat

Question

Is there a hadeeth where Allaah (SWT) says that, if it were not for the trees and the animals, He would not have sent down rain (due to the sins of the people) ? Jazaak Allaahu Khairan

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Ibn 'Umar may Allaah be pleased with him narrated: "The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: ''O Muhaajiroon [migrants], beware of five traits if ever you were afflicted by them, and I seek refuge in Allaah for you from being afflicted by them, if ever immorality (fornication, adultery or solamy) spreads in a community and they publicly commit it (or talk about it), diseases which were not present in the time of their predecessors will spread among them. If they decrease the measure and weight (of sold grains or food), they will be overcome by poverty, their provisions will decrease and their ruler will be unjust. If they refrain from paying the Zakat, they will be deprived of rain and had it not been for their cattle, they would never receive rain. If they renounce their commitment to Allaah and His Messenger, they will be governed by an enemy who is a stranger to them and who will take from them some of what they possess. If their ruler do not rule according to Allaah's Book, they will be afflicted by a civil war." [Ibn Maajah]

This is a sound narration and it proves the bad effects that disobedience has on the individual and the society in their worldly life and in the Hereafter.

As regards the term 'trees', we have not come across it in any narration.

Allaah Knows best.
