Interpretation of a Qur'an verse [65:12]

Question

Can you tell me the Tafseer of Ayah 12 of Surah At-Talaq in full explanation? Both what is the Dhaeef and Saheeh?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Allaah says (which means): {It is Allaah Who has created seven heavens and of the earth the like thereof (i.e. seven). His Command descends between them (heavens and earth), that you may know that Allaah has power over all things, and that Allaah surrounds (comprehends) all things in (His) Knowledge.}[65:12]. In this verse Allaah shows us that He has power over all things, that He comprehends everything in His knowledge, that He is the Eternal Owner of everything and that He has created seven heavens and of the earth the like thereof. All the interpreters of the Qur'an may  Allaah  have  mercy  upon  them agreed that there are seven heavens. The majority of them agreed as well that there are seven earths; some Prophetic narrations prove this. The Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allaah exalt his mention ) said that the Prophet Nooh (Noah)  may  Allaah  exalt  his  mention told his son: "I command you to stick to Laa ilaaha illallaah because if the seven heavens and the seven earths were put in one side of a scale and Laa ilaaha illallaah is put on the other side, Laa ilaaha illallaah will outweigh them." [Ahmad] Furthermore, the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "If a person takes unjustly a span of a hand of the land of another person, on the Day of Judgement a span of a hand of land from seven earths will encircle him." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] Some interpreters of the Qur'an may  Allaah  have  mercy  upon  them are of the view that the earth is one and the comparison is not in number but in creation. The most preponderant opinion, however, is the view of the majority of scholars may  Allaah  have  mercy  upon  them.

Finally, it should be noted that it is not permissible to subject the Qur'an to the theories of the astronomers and others who do not have a fixed theory, but their theories change and differ to an extent that one theory contradicts another. They say something one day and the next day they contradict what they said the day before. A scientific absolute truth does not contradict an absolute truth from revelation.
