Inauthentic Hadeeth about the light of the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam

Question

Assalamu Alikum Last week in the jummua bayan, the imam (our area is soofi dominated) i heard this hadeeth from the imam. * i picked up the original sentences from a website came in a google search. "Ummul Mo'mineen Hadrat Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (radi Allahu anha) who was the guideline for the Sahaba when they were in problems concerning knowledge. She states: "It was the time of sahri and I was sewing something when the needle fell down. Just then the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) entered the room and due to stream of light flowing from His blessed face, I found the needle." (Khasaisul Kubra pg 156 vol 1 - Hujatullahi Alal Alameen 688 - Alqaulul Bad'i 147 - Aqidatush Shuhahada 102 - Qasas ul Ambiya (Persian)." My question is sheik, what is the quolity of this hadeeth. What openion are of muhadhis on this hadeeth ? Jazakallah.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

This Prophetic narration which you mentioned in the question is reported by Ibn ‘Asaakir, by Al-Asbahaani, and by Hibat Allaah Ash-Shaafi’i may Allaah have mercy upon them. However, we have not come across any statement of the scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them about its classification and whether or not it is an authentic narration.

Nonetheless, it is known that many Sufis exaggerate about the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and claim that he was created from light.

Allaah clarified to us in the Quran that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was a human being and he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) had the characteristics of humans exactly like all other people. Allaah Says (what means): {Say, “I am only a man like you.}[Quran 18:110]

Moreover, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) informed us that the angels were created from light and the jinn were created from fire, and that Aadam was created from clay. [Muslim]

There is no evidence from the Quran or the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) which negates this fact.
