Islamic medication for migraine

Question

I have migraine for the past 10 years,my age is 19, i have tried all medicines but no relief,is there any islamic medication to get relief from this terrible headache.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We have already issued Fatwa 89176 clarifying what is mentioned in the Sunnah for treating migraine, like performing cupping and applying Henna. It is reported that there is no one who complained to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) about a headache except that he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) would advise him to perform cupping. It is also confirmed that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) performed cupping in his head while in the state of Ihraam because of having a headache.

Therefore, if you wish to have more information about migraine, its types, its causes and the methods of treating it, then you should read the translated abridged version of the book of Ibn Al-Qayyim may Allaah have mercy upon him entitled Zaad Al-Mi’aad, as he wrote a chapter about the guidance of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) in treating migraine and headache.

Allaah Knows best.
