Question
When someone performs Hajj on behalf of another, should he perform a Qiraan, Ifraad or Tamattu‘ Hajj?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
There is no blame on someone who performs Hajj on behalf of another person to perform it according to whatever type he chooses from the three types of Hajj which are: Tamattu‘, Ifraad and Qiraan. This is so unless the one who authorized him to perform Hajj on his behalf specified a certain type out of the three, in which case, he should abide by what they agreed upon.
