The ways through which we can talk to Allaah

Question

Salam, I would like to know is the only way to talk to Allah is by praying that you can tell him anything or can you talk to Allah by making a du'aa?Is there any other ways you can talk to Allah? Please do reply back. Thank you, Lilly

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

There is no doubt that a Muslim during the prayer is talking to his Lord as per the Hadeeth reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim may Allaah have mercy upon them and narrated by Anas may Allaah be pleased with him that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: ''If he [i.e. a Muslim] is in the prayer, then he is talking to his Lord…” However, the prayer is not the only act by which a servant can talk to his Lord. There is a talk in supplication, in the mention of Allaah and in the recitation of the Quran. The prayer includes all of these.

Allaah Knows best.
