Making a verbal mistake when fulfilling a vow

Question

Asaalaam, I got throat pain before 6 months and hairpatch before 8 months. when i got throat pain , i told to allah to cure it and i will read 2 rakat namaz and i will read 1 yaseen. Similarly for hairpatch problem, i told i will read 5 yaseen. allah has showered his blessing on me and both are cured. so i have to finish reading shukriyana namaz and yaseen. For throat pain i read namaz and 1 yaseen. then after 1 month i read yaseen 5 times for hairpatch. But mistakenly while reading yaseen 5 times, instead of telling hairpatch i said to allah that i am reading it for throat pain. but i have to read for hair patch. Now do i need to read yaseen 5 times again saying hairpatch or shall i ask allah to accept these 5 yaseen for hair patch ?? please reply me... Allah hafiz.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

It is stipulated in vowing to be binding that it is done with a wording that indicates commitment. What you have mentioned does not indicate that unless you intended to make it a vow when uttering it, in which case it will be a vow according to some scholars.

Accordingly, what you have done of reciting Soorah (Chapter) Yaa Seen five times for hair patch is sufficient and the mistake you mentioned is of no effect.

Allaah Knows best.
