Refuting alleged discrepancy between a verse and a Hadeeth

Question

Salamu Alaykum, I have a question thats been bothering me alot in my head i have been thinking about it the whole day and it has put me down a little. My question is, doesn't the verse below and the hadith contradict with each other? Christians try to say that Muhammad (pbuh) was a false prophet and a lier, then show me the verse of Quran and then the Hadith wich I have shown below. Quran Surah 69 verse 44-46 And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings,We would have seized him by the right hand; Then We would have cut from him the aorta. (Shakir) Sahih al-Bukhari 4428 The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to CRY, “O Aishah! I still? feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison.” Doesnt this somehow contradict, that shows that Muhammad peace be upon him was lieng and God punished him? Forgive me if I speak badly about the Prophet that is not my intentions, I only seek knowledge. Please give me a good answer, prefer more solutions then one. Thanks in advance.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Alhamdulillaah (Praise to Allaah), there is no contradiction between the verse and the Hadeeth. In fact, the scholars have cited this verse as evidence of the truthfulness of the prophethood of Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). This verse means that if the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) were to invent a lie against Allaah, Allaah would hasten his punishment, and He would avenge him in a severe and harsh manner.

The verse contains two features: hastening and magnifying. Taahir ibn 'Aashoor may Allaah have mercy upon him said in his interpretation of the Quran, At-Tahreer wat Tanweer: The meaning of {We would have seized him by the right hand}, is ‘We would have seized him by force, that is, without hesitation…

He said in another instance: “The meaning is: “We would have taken him sooner and We would have severed his aorta. This is to magnify the manner of seizing; therefore, Allaah did not say for instance ‘We would have made him perish.

Neither of those things happened to the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) - praise to Allaah; rather, he survived several years after eating the poison, and he was supported by miracles, the greatest of which were the revelation of the Quran and victory over his enemies. This is indeed the greatest evidence of the truthfulness of his prophethood.

His death sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) after years of being affected by the poison was an additional honor from Allaah to him, as Allaah gave him two rewards: Allaah did not enable anyone to kill him directly; He protected him from the people and ordained that he would escape the plots of those who plotted against him; and Allaah also ordained that he would be a martyr. And the reward of a martyr is indeed great.

Therefore, the evidence that those people wish to put forth to deny the Prophethood of Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is evidence against themselves. The fact that such people adhere to such weak misconceptions proves their inability to challenge Islam and the Prophet of Islam. When hearts become blinded by hatred, they are driven to discredit their opponent with faults or with something that does not even amount to a fault and accuse him with false accusations.

If those people were wise, they would notice the great contradictions and falsehood that are in the Bible that any reasonable person would reject. They would also confess that the religion of Islam is the true religion and follow it as the wise people of the past and present have done. Allaah says (what means): {You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allaah; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, “We are Christians.” That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, “Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.}[Quran 5:82-83]

For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 86091 clarifying that Islam is the true religion and the religion of all the Prophets, and to Fataawa 10326 and 8210 about the falsehood of Christianity, and to Fatwa 90449 about the discrepancies of the Bible.

We also recommend the website of Shaykh Ahmed Deedat may Allaah have mercy upon him. It has much evidence against the Christians and clarifies much falsehood in Christianity.

Finally, we warn you against being preoccupied with the misconceptions that those people are raising. You should instead busy yourself with that which benefits you in your religious and worldly affairs. Besides, if you do not have enough religious knowledge to refute these misconceptions, then you should be careful about it, as your heart might be affected by them, and you could be tempted.

Allaah Knows best.
