Question
Do spirits visit their families and relatives and know what is happening to them? Do they go to the graves, by the permission of Allaah The Almighty, on Thursdays and Fridays, so that they can listen to their visitors?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
The issue of spirits visiting the houses of the living is a matter of the unseen. No one can know anything about that. As far as we know, there are no relevant Sharee‘ah texts concerning this subject.
There is no proof indicating that visiting graves should be done on Mondays and Thursdays. However, Ibn Al-Qayyim and some other scholars 
quoted some other scholars’ sayings about that topic. However, he did not comment on these quotations. This issue is discussed in Fatwa 90758.
