Fatwa CenterShe finds mysterious geometric shapes on her body
Question
Assalamu alaikom wa rahmatullah, My question might seem a bit strange ,but I really need a reassuring answer for it .I have noticed geometrical marks on my body ,one which first appeared in ramadan and the other one recently.The first mark is a square on my left arm and the other looks like an arrow pointing down on my left leg. Everytime I look a these marks ,I get the thought that this might be a sign from Allah that I will be thrown into hell.I am really worried because I committed a lot of sins and this intensifies these negative thoughts in my head.My question is : can shaytan /jinn leave such marks on the body ,even in ramadan,to create doubt? otherwise,what could these marks possibly be because they are very clear and geometrical ? I really hope you can answer my question because it's been on my mind day and night.Jazakum Allahu khairan
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
We cannot decisively explain the marks that have appeared on your body, but we recommend that you repel the fears and illusions from your mind and be certain that Allaah is Kind, Generous, Merciful and Forgiving, and that he accepts repentance and does not wrong anyone, and that he repays people only according to what they deserve.
So, you should sincerely repent from your sins and turn back to the obedience of Allaah, observe all of the Islamic duties and avoid what is forbidden, and Allaah will keep you safe from punishment, make you enjoy Paradise, and render you secure from fear, Allaah willing.
Allaah says (what means):
- {And when those come to you who believe in Our Verses, say, "Peace be upon you. Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy: that any of you who does wrong out of ignorance and then repents after that and corrects himself - indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful."}[Quran 6:54]
- {And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. So whoever believes and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.}[Quran 6:48]
- {Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allaah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.}[Quran 10:62]
- {Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allaah," and then remained on a right course - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.}[Quran 46:13]
As regards the possibility of the devil doing this to you, we can neither deny nor confirm it, but you should protect yourself by Allaah, and regularly recite Surah 113 and 114, and the authentic every-day Athkaar (remembrance of Allaah), and Allaah will protect you by them from the devil and all other evils. Keep Hisn Al-Muslim (Fortress of the Muslim) at your reach and regularly recite the confirmed Athkaar therein. If you do so, we hope that you will achieve the success which Allaah promised those who remember Him; Allaah says (what means): {…and remember Allaah much that you may be successful.}[Quran 8:45]
