Hadeeth about Adh-Dhuha prayer bringing sustenance and taking away poverty

Question

This statement states that the forenoon prayer attracts sustenance and turns away poverty. Is this Hadith narration of the Prophet Muhammad authentic (Saheeh)?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

We are not aware of any Hadeeh of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, stating that Adh-Dhuha (the forenoon) prayer brings about sustenance and takes away poverty. We have not come across a Hadeeth with this wording in all the Sunnah literature available to us, despite there being much. Since there is no Hadeeth with this meaning, it is probable that the person who said this had taken this meaning from Soorah Adh-Dhuha (Quran 93) in which self-sufficiency was mentioned. Allaah says (what means): {And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.} [Quran 93:8]

This meaning may also have been taken from the Hadeeth by Abu Tharr  may  Allaah  be  pleased  with  him who reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said (in a Qudsi Hadeeth): “Allaah says: O son of Aadam, perform four Rak’ahs for me at the beginning of the day and I will suffice you (till) its end.” This sufficiency could include sufficiency in sustenance. The author of ‘Awn Al-Ma’bood said: “I will suffice you (till) its end”, could mean to keep him from calamities and harms, and it could mean to protect him from sins and forgive the sins that he had committed (that day), or it could mean what is more general than this; this is what As-Suyooti said.” [End of quote]

Adh-Dhuha prayer is an act of worship, and acts of worship in general bring about sustenance. An authentic Hadeeth reads: “Allaah says: O son of Aadam, reserve yourself for My worship and I will fill your chest with riches and alleviate your poverty.” [Ahmad, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Maajah - Al-Albaani graded it as Saheeh (sound)] The scholars mentioned that prayer is a means to bring about provision. Ibn Al-Qayyim  may  Allaah  have  mercy  upon  him said in Zaad Al-Ma'aad about the prayer: “The prayer is one of the best aides for someone to achieve the benefits of this worldly life and the Hereafter; and the prayer repels the harms of this worldly life and the Hereafter. It forbids sin and heals the diseases of the heart and the diseases of the body; and it illuminates the heart and brightens the face, and it gives energy to the body and soul, and brings about sustenance… .
