Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

Having paid the study fees from your salary or from any other source of money does not hinder you from using the certificate to your advantage as long as you have acquired it lawfully and are entitled to it.

However, your negligence at your work is impermissible, and it is considered a betrayal of trust. It is incumbent on you to fulfill the trust for the one who entrusted you. Allaah, The Exalted, says (what means): {O you who have believed, do not betray Allaah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know [the consequence].}[Quran 8:27]

You are obliged to clear yourself of liability from such negligence regarding the commodities you did not scan whether you took their price or gave for free to customers and regarding any other act that constituted betrayal of trust. You are obliged to clear you liability by paying for that to your workplace even if indirectly. If you are unable to estimate the sum of money for which you are liable, you should pay the amount that you believe would most likely be enough to clear your liability. This should be accompanied with remorse for what you have done, and you should also seek forgiveness from Allaah and resolve never to go back to such practices.
