Question
What is the stance of the followers of the Sunnah (Prophetic traditions) towards the Quranic verses and Hadeeths (narrations) on the Attributes of Allaah?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
The stance of Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jamaa'ah towards such verses is that they affirm the Attributes that Allaah The Almighty described Himself with, and that the Prophet 
described Him with; without asking how, or drawing resemblance between Allaah The Almighty and His creation, or distorting their wording or meaning; denying any of them, or stripping their meaning of their connotations based on the Sharee‘ah (Islamic law). This was the stance of the righteous predecessors of the first generation of this Ummah (Muslim nation), namely the Companions, who were the best generation of Muslims, and it is also the stance of those who followed them and of the succeeding rightly-guided scholars.
