Question

Aslamaulakaum How do we refute these arguments of hadith rejectors. 1) They say saying bukkari is the second most authentic book after the Quran is shirk. 2) Following hadiths is shirk becuse you are making the Prophet (pbuh) equal to Allah.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

This argument reflects the evident misguidance of the one who proposes it. The divine wisdom of Allaah required that Saheeh Al-Bukhari would be considered the most authentic book after the Quran in order to preserve this religion. Obedience to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, in what is revealed to him from Allaah, The Exalted, constitutes obedience to Allaah, The Exalted, as stated in the Quran. How could someone claim that obedience to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and following his commands is Shirk? Verily, this is a tremendous lie. Allaah, The Exalted, says (what means):

• {He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allaah …}[Quran 4:80]

• {And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allaah…}[Quran 4:64]

• {… And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from…}[Quran 59:7]

• {… And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided…}[Quran 24:54]

• {… Say, "Obey Allaah and the Messenger"…}[Quran 3:32]

• {… and follow him that you may be guided. …}[Quran 7:158]

There are many verses to that effect. The Quran, to those who believe in it, clearly stipulates the obligation of obeying the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and that obedience to him is obedience to Allaah, The Exalted. Therefore, Muslims are obliged to comply with the commands of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, because they were revealed to him by Allaah, The Exalted, and obedience to him is obedience to Allaah, The Exalted.

Claiming that following the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and obeying him is Shirk is considered disbelief in the Quran. The person who puts forward such an argument does not believe in the Quran even if he claims that he reveres it and abides by its teachings.
