Menstruating woman should leave prayer only out of obedience

Question

As-salaamu 3laikum, I want to ask about the ruling on a woman, who, although she likes praying, feels some feeling of relief when she gets her period or that she can relax more, because she does not have to worry about oversleeping at the time of the prayer or planning her daily routine around the times of the prayers or waking up at a particular time. However, when the period finishes she is not unhappy about resuming praying again. Is this wrong? Jazaakum Allahu khair

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

This woman bears no sin for feeling that way – Allaah willing; but she should call to mind that she does not pray during those days only out of obedience to Allaah and to abide by what He has legislated for His slaves.

Allaah Knows best.
